ViBGYOR is entering its 7th year. Number 7 is very important to ViBGYOR as obvious as the seven colours of the rainbow, which represent the basic themes of the festival and also the seven founding organizations.
Focus Theme 2012: SOUTH ASIA: LIVES & LIVELIHOODS
South Asia is home to some of the world’s richest and also the largest number of poor people in the world. The region is plagued by conflict, poverty, lack of access to basic necessities and services; and ravaged by conflicts of various kinds. Rampant unemployment, feudalism, abysmal living conditions of the large majority, is further complicated by fundamentalist sectarian violence and state sponsored violence, both domestic and cross border.
7th ViBGYOR will showcase films which raise various issues of people in South Asia in terms of their struggle to live and earn a livelihood. It could be the struggle of one person or of a society. It could be depicting the dismal situations people are in or the efforts they are making in order to overcome it.
Apart from the screenings of films on the Focus Theme, various other activities like Conferences, Mini Conferences, Campaigns, Discussions, Music recitals and Exhibitions will be organized on this topic.
